Dark Color plus One or Two Dun Genes

     

Starting with a red based (ee) horse (chestnut/sorrel)

 

If either one or both parents give the foal a dun gene, the result will be red dun.

     

Starting with a black based (E_) horse with a bay gene (A)

 

If either one or both parents give the foal a dun gene, the result will be a dun.

     

Starting with a black (E_) horse with a brown gene (At)

 

If either one or both parents give the foal a dun gene, the result will be a brown dun.

     

Starting with a black based (E_) horse without a bay or brown gene (aa)

 

If either one or both parents give the foal a dun gene, the result will be a grulla.
