"The
2nd worst thing that happened to me in the summer of 1999."
|

|
The
Pony From Hell: "Rap II"
Don't
shoot 'til you see the whites of his eyes!
Almost killed me in June (?) of 1999.
Deliberately. (See below.)
(BTW,
he was walnut brown, but not as dark as he looks in these pics.)

Awww,
look at the cute little poneeee....
The vet said he had good, clean legs, and his heart
and lungs sounded fine... |
|

|
Why,
I'd never hurt a FLY....
(Here
you can see his size compared to Joe. A medium sized
pony. Dam was a chocolate Rocky Mountain, sire was a silver
dapple Shetland.)

Are
YOU talkin' ta ME?
(Note characteristic swishing tail, accompanied by
pinned ears when a boy or man approached him. Poor little guy...) |
Yes,
yes, I know, he's "pretty", and he could be salvaged for some
uses. People were already lining up to use him as a stud for their pony
mares. But we wanted a child safe pony for the summer of 1999!
DOGGONE IT! I REALLY LIKED THIS
LITTLE GUY!
OK,
why all the sarcasm and past tense? For those who don't know, this
pony was advertised on the internet via email as the sweetest thing,
will do anything you ask him to, still a stud but you'd never know it
from his attitude, etc.
Evidently
he'd been abused by men and teenaged boys, because he was afraid of and
consistently threatened to attack them. He seemed to trust me --
until I bent over to move his feed bucket, when he dove into the back of
my neck with his teeth, slamming my head into a fence post (one side of
my face swollen) and bouncing it back into his head (other side of my
face swollen plus a halter-buckle cut.) There was a perfect set of
tooth marks on my neck. Thank God I was not critically injured or
killed -- and thank God we hadn't let any children visit him yet!

The WORST thing that happened to me was I lost my beloved
father-in-law.
