Introduction
My mother tells me that I "came out asking for" a horse.
But it wasn't until November of 1990 that I finally got
one of my own.
What I had always thought I wanted was a big, bay
hunter. What I found was a smallish, chestnut Arabian
gelding (see Amir).
And ever since, he has been a blessing
to me, my family, and countless other children and adults!
My husband rode him a little, just enough to get
brave enough to ride the big-boned, stubborn old dead-broke Quarter
Horse who was owned by the second place we boarded Amir. For eight
years.
About 7 years later, when we moved Amir to a closer
farm, my husband bought a Quarter
Horse gelding whose "white" color would cause me to become "an expert"
on horse colors and their genetics.
(see Doc)
Soon he had the chance to "rescue" the old Quarter
Horse gelding
he had been riding for those other 8 years. (see Bill)
After I helped start a
registry for champagne colored
horses,
a champagne Quarter Horse filly I wanted was offered to me for a very
good price, just in time for my 50th birthday.
(see Sugar Champagne Lace) A few years later,
old Bill had to be put down at age 31.
Choose from the "saddle rack", left,
to hit the trail with us.
